Rain run-off Erosion Ditches/Gullies Streams
Rain run-off is a contributing factor to erosion on the Hills. The different soils, rock types and vegetation can affect this to a greater or lesser extent. Come and visit the Hills to discover the impact at first hand. Erosion at the Lickeys is influenced by nature and humans. Discover the processes at work for both which can lead to minor trickles up to large gullies. Learn how the rangers manage with both influences. The ditches are one way of managing water on the Lickeys and can be found across the site. The gullies are found where water erosion has affected the ground.  The Lickeys has a mid-England watershed running across it. The source of the river Arrow is found on Beacon Hill while on the other side of the Hill the water ends up in the River Rea. The Arrow ends up in the Bristol Channel while the Rea ends up in the North Sea.
