Conservation Tasks

 The topics below are basic guides to show the different themes that can be used on a site visit to the Lickey Hills. They are not restrictive and can be adapted to suit your needs. For any further information please contact the Rangers at the Visitor Centre.

Practical conservation tasks can be arranged to suit most groups and abilities. 

An Hour A Day A Season A Year
As part of a project or session small conservation tasks can be undertaken on the park to help in its management.

The tasks may include coppicing, litter picking and ditch clearing.

As part of a project or session larger conservation tasks can be undertaken on the park to help in its management.

The tasks may include bridge building, heathland scrub removal and  ditch digging.

Over the course of a season usually autumn or winter conservation tasks can be undertaken on the park to help in its management.

The tasks may include heathland conservation and woodland management.

Over a year many things change and the conservation tasks involved may also include some form of monitoring.

The tasks may include heathland conservation and woodland management.

All tasks are performed under supervision and tools are provided where necessary. Personal Protective equipment cannot be supplied for all tasks so equipment like boots or gloves must be provided by the group or individuals.
